What’s the weather like in Lanzarote in August?

Lanzarote’s the most easterly of the Canary Islands, sitting just off the west coast of North Africa. If you're going on your Lanzarote holidays in August you'll get lots of sun and no rain as it’s the peak of summer and the hottest month of the year. North easterly breezes and the cool Canary Current will stop you from getting too hot, although the Sahara Desert does the opposite when it sends over hot winds and the occasional dust storm. Lanzarote’s relatively flat meaning the weather doesn't change much around the island, although the south generally gets the best of it.

The average high in Lanzarote is 29ºC in August, which is perfect for relaxing in the sun. Don’t worry about bringing many warm clothes as temperatures only drop to 22ºC at night. The sea’s lovely for swimming in at 22ºC, and humidity’s moderate. There’s not usually any rain in August so you can expect nine uninterrupted hours of sunshine from 13 hours of daylight each day. UV levels will be extremely high so make sure you use plenty of sun cream. The sun goes down at 8.45pm at the start of the month, making it perfect for al fresco dining.
