    Tenerife weather August

What’s the weather like in Tenerife in August?

The location of Tenerife off the west coast of North Africa means the island has a lovely climate that’s in the full swing of summer in August. Holidays to Tenerife are popular at this time, when you’ll get the hottest temperatures of the year with not much chance of rain.

    Geographical influences

As you're so close to the Sahara Desert, you'd get too hot in August if it wasn’t for the Canary Current and north easterly winds. Mount Teide’s one of the world’s tallest volcanoes and officially the highest point in Spain. It blocks the wind from the south, meaning it’s warmer and drier than the north.

    Averages

Tenerife’s average high in August’s 28ºC, so you can look forward to spending the days in your swimwear. You won’t need to bring many warm clothes for the evenings as it stays quite warm at night. The sea’s a lovely 23ºC while humidity’s moderate and there’s just 3mm of rain. You'll get nine hours of sunshine from the 13 hours of daylight each day, and be careful in the sun as UV levels will be extremely high so pack the sun cream. The sun goes down at 9pm at the start of the month, which gradually gets earlier.
