    Menorca weather September

What’s the weather like in Menorca in September?

One of Spain’s Balearic Islands off the country’s east coast, Menorca has a typical Mediterranean climate. This means the island enjoys long hot summers, so September’s a great time for you to visit with lovely weather and less crowds than the peak months.

    Climatic quirks

Menorca has more than 300 days of sunshine each year, although it’s slightly cooler and wetter than other Balearic islands as it’s a bit further north. It’s known as the ‘Windy Island’ because of the many winds which affect its climate. The northern tramontana wind is the most noticeable, which brings cool, dry air from France. The winds will keep you cool in September, and also mean Menorca’s great for watersports.

    Averages

The average high temperature during September is 26ºC, so bring a good choice of beach gear and swimwear with you. Things stay comfortable at night so you won’t want to take up too much space in your suitcase with warm clothes. The average sea temperature’s a nice and warm 25ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from 50% to around 90%. Average rainfall’s 70mm across ten rainy days, although it’s usually dry on the coast.

    Daylight

There’s an average of 12 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine in September. Take plenty of sun cream with you as UV levels will be high, and the winds can deceive you into thinking it’s not as hot as it actually is. Sunset’s at 8.15pm at the start of September and gradually gets earlier as the month goes on.
