    Algarve weather April

What’s the weather like in the Algarve in April?

The Algarve region’s in the south of Portugal close to the northwest coast of Africa. This location gives the area warm weather all year round, with temperatures rising in April. There’s lots of sunshine at this time, although you'll enjoy the weather most if you prefer things to be cooler and less busy than the peak summer months.

    Climatic influences

The Algarve’s one of the sunniest places in Europe, and has Portugal’s best weather, because it’s sheltered from winds and rain by mountains that split the north and south of the country. Atlantic winds do still make their way across, but are stronger offshore. The east of the Algarve has slightly warmer and drier weather than the west because the Atlantic sends over more winds than the Mediterranean in the west.

    Averages

The Algarve’s capital, Faro, has an average high temperature of 20ºC in April. You'll be spending lots of time at the beach so bring a selection of bathers, although you should pack some warmer clothes for the evenings as things can get quite chilly. The average sea temperature’s 17ºC, while humidity’s high. Average rainfall’s 41mm over nine days with rain.

    Daylight

During April you can expect 13 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be high so look after yourself in the sun, which sets just before 8pm at the beginning of April and gradually gets later as the month goes on.
