    Sicily weather October

What's the weather like in Sicily in October?

Sitting off the toe of Italy’s boot, Sicily’s the largest island in the Mediterranean. It has typical Mediterranean weather with long, hot summers that last well into October. This means you’ll get plenty of warm weather and sun at this time, although there’s more rain than earlier in the summer.

    Mount Etna

Mount Etna’s one of the world’s tallest and most active volcanoes, and has a big impact on Sicily’s weather. It protects the south from north westerly winds, keeping you warm and dry. The southeast coast’s also a bit calmer. There’s cooler temperatures and more rain in and around the mountains. The Sahara Desert can sometimes send over hot winds, which pushes temperatures up a lot.

    Averages

Capital Palermo has an average high of 22ºC in October, so it’s still nice and warm. You should bring some warmer clothes for the evenings though as it cools to 16ºC at night. The sea temperature’s 23ºC, while humidity’s low. There's 84mm of rain over eight days. You can expect seven hours of sunshine from the 11 hours of daylight each day. UV levels will be moderate. Sunset’s just before 7pm at the start of October; this is closer to 5pm by the end of the month because of daylight saving.
