      Sicily

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The best time to visit Sicily is during the summer when the island’s Mediterranean climate is in full swing and the weather is sunny, hot and dry. Sicily has a varied landscape with some of the world’s most active volcanoes. The mountainous terrain influences the climate and gives the regions beneath shelter from northwest prevailing winds. For slightly warmer weather, head to the southeast of the island that tends to be milder and drier than the northwest coast. Temperatures rarely drop below 16°C, but the warmest time of the year is from June to September. You can look forward to temperature highs of 27°C in July and August. If you don’t like the heat but still want to enjoy plenty of sunshine on holiday, the best time to go to Sicily is spring. The weather between March and May is very mild, with highs of 19°C towards the end of the season. If you love swimming, arrive in the summer for warm sea temperatures of 27°C. The Mediterranean Sea is known for its crystal clear waters that are great for snorkelling and scuba diving. You can also enjoy a refreshing swim, which will help cool you down at peak times of the day.
