    What’s the weather like in Sri Lanka in June?

    In June, the south and west of Sri Lanka is in the midst of the summer monsoon, making this a rainy month on the coast and further inland. Even in the wet season some days are dry, but you’ll need to be prepared for rain if you visit at this time of year. In the northern and eastern areas of the island, the weather is much drier, making this a good month to explore the likes of Arugam Bay and Trincomalee.

    In Sri Lanka, the average daytime temperature hovers around 28°C on the coast, while the hill country is much cooler. Although the sea’s a warm 28°C at this time of year, it can often be quite rough on the southern and western coasts so look out for red flags on the beaches. For the best beach weather, go to the east coast which avoids the summer monsoon, while the Cultural Triangle in the north is as hot as 32°C. In the capital Colombo, the wet season brings 186mm of rain over the course of the month.
