It’s one of the world’s best holiday destinations, and still feels like summer at this time. You'll love September if you prefer slightly cooler temperatures compared to July and August, as well as thinner crowds.

    Oceans and mountains

Greece has coastline on the Mediterranean, Aegean and Ionian Sea, and you'll get lovely weather if you're staying on the coast in September. Much of Greece is mountainous or hilly, with the northern Pindus Mountains bringing more rain to the west than the east. Southern Greece and its islands are much drier than the north, although there’s some small differences because of the geography. There’s cooler temperatures at some inland places, while conditions are more continental in north-central and northeastern Greece.
