    Santorini weather September

What's the weather like in Santorini in September?

Located in the southern Aegean, Santorini’s a chain of five volcanic islands some 200km southeast of mainland Greece. If you're planning your Santorini holidays in September you can look forward to high temperatures, lots of sun and not much rain as the long summer goes on.

    Two seasons

The furthest south of the Cyclades islands, Santorini has a hot Mediterranean climate that’s more like two seasons as opposed to the usual four. The warm and dry summer generally lasts from April to October, while the cooler and wetter winter runs from November to March. Santorini’s a bit cooler than other Mediterranean islands, so it’s perfect if you prefer to relax in lower heat. September’s also not as busy as the peak summer months. If you're on the coast then you'll be kept cool by the sea and its breezes.

    Averages

The average high’s 26ºC in September, and Santorini’s perfect for late summer sun as there’s usually ten hours of sunshine from the 12 hours of daylight each day. Humidity’s nice and low, but UV levels will be high so make sure you take plenty of sun cream. The sea temperature’s a fantastic 24ºC, so it’s great for swimming, while there’s only 11mm of rain over two days. Things stay quite warm after the sun goes down, which happens at 7.45pm at the start of the month, and gradually gets earlier.
