What’s the weather like in Barbados in May?

Barbados has a tropical climate as it’s just north of the equator. If you're going on your Barbados holidays in May you can look forward to high temperatures and lots of sun, although the amount of rain picks up towards the end of the month. This is because it marks the beginning of the wet season which lasts from the end of May until December. However when it does rain, it’s usually not for long. Atlantic winds will help to keep you cool, and Barbados is relatively flat so there’s not much difference in weather around the island. The south and west Caribbean coasts tend to have calmer weather than the north and east Atlantic coasts.

The average high in the capital, Bridgetown, is 31ºC in May, which only falls to 23ºC at night. With these temperatures you won’t need to bring many warm clothes with you. At 28ºC, the sea’s perfect for swimming, while humidity’s very high. There’s 57mm of rain over ten days, and you can expect 13 hours of daylight with nine hours of sunshine each day. Make sure you bring plenty of sun cream as UV levels will be extremely high. Sunset’s around 6.15pm.
